Impact of Farmers’ Sense of Community on Organizational Commitment and Business Performance - Focusing on Farmers Participating in the Agricultural Products Processing Center -
This study analyzed the relationship between the sense of community, organizational commitment, and business performance among farmers participating in the agricultural products processing center. As a result, the farmer’s sense of community at the agricultural products processing center had a positive effect on organizational commitment, and the farmer’s sense of community had a positive effect on business performance. In this regard, efforts should be made to systematically manage and sustain the future of formal, formal and informal activities of the agricultural products processing center. In addition, in order for the community formed at the agricultural products processing center to continue to grow, it is necessary to take the approach of improving the competence of personnel, organizing work, developing professional programs, and forming related networks. In addition, the organization formed through the agricultural products processing center should be grown as a farmer’s organization of processing base so that it can be linked with the activation policy such as food plan and local food.
This study is aimed at the deduction of the important priority factors by setting the comprehensive rate in each of the economy, sociability and environmental areas for the sustainable development of fishing villages. As the research methods, review of domestic and overseas literature and Delphi questionnaire survey on experts, and hierarchical structure analysis were executed. Accordingly, this study is aimed at providing the basic data at the time of establishing plans by assessing the level of importance and priorities for each item through the deduction of the elements necessary for the fishing village plan. Key results of the study are as follows. First, as the results of review of domestic and overseas literature related to sustainability indices of fishing villages, a total of 50 items in the areas of economy, sociability and environment were deduced. Second, validity for each area was confirmed through Delphi questionnaire survey on experts. Third, as the results of factor analysis conducted on the basis of the hierarchical structure analysis for detailed items for each sector, 3 factors in the economic area, 2 factors in the social area and 3 factors in environment area were deduced. Fourth, as the results of the relative importance of the higher tiers, economic sector (0.528) displayed results that are more than 2 times higher than the social (0.261) and environmental (0.212) sectors. Establishment of foundation for independent competition (0.105), balanced development of small fishing village (0.086) and population engaged in economic activities in comparison to the fishing village population (0.077) were analyzed as the most important detailed items. Based on these results, experts pointed out that the economic sector is most important for the sustainable development of fishing village and, in detail, priority must be placed on the balanced development on the basis if the extent of independence of the fishing villages, and emphasized activation of residents engaged in economic activities in fishing villages in order to support them. That is, in order to increase the level of independence of the fishing villages, it was determined that there is a dire needs for expansion of diversified specialized businesses and infrastructural facilities through agreement by the residents capable of economic activities, and means of activating fishing villages through securing of budget at the local autonomous government level to provide support for the residents.
The study analyzed the frequency of simultaneous occurrence of keywords presented in a total of 805 papers published in domestic journals from 1995 to 2019 by social network analysis(SNS) method, and examined core keywords of each period(5 years), in order to understand the research trends of the rural residential environment. The main results are as follows. First, as a result of the analysis of centrality, ‘Community’, ‘Tourism’ and ‘Comprehensive Rural Village Development Project’ were the top 3 keywords. Second, examined by each period, the top keywords are ‘Eco Friendly’ in 2000~2004, ‘Tourism’ in 2005~2009 and 2010~2014, ‘Community’ in 2015~2019. Third, comparing the structural characteristics of core keywords 2nd, 3rd, and 4th period, a network centering on ‘Tourism’ was clearly formed in the 2nd period. ‘Tourism’ was divided into ‘Community’ and a movement to form a separate group appeared in the 3rd period. In the 4th period, ‘Community’ was found to form a network without direct connection with ‘Tourism’. The results of this study suggest the trend change of viewpoint for the rural area in the domestic research on rural residential environment. It has been confirmed that while the research had been carried out with the viewpoint of rural area as a ‘tourist attraction’ or ‘sightseeing spot’ for the urban citizens until the mid-2010s, in the research of late 2010s the viewpoint has settled down as a ‘residential space’ or ‘space for new economic activities’ of a variety of rural residents.
Korea’s general rural development projects, which has shifted its paradigm to a bottom-up approach, should be promoted in the direction of focusing on the subjective well-being of the residents in rural areas. This study analyzed the effect that a general rural development project impact on the subjective well-being of the residents and the village leader in the relationship the spirituality of leadership, the village’s social capital to analyze the impact any general rural areas, attributed the success of development projects with diversified.. The results are as follows: First, the basic living-based projects among general agricultural fishing village development projects have positive effects on the subjective welfare of the residents. Second, it was found that the basic living-based projects and regional income raising projects in general agricultural fishing village development projects had a positive effect on the altruistic behaviors and beliefs of spiritual leadership. Third, as a result of analyzing the effect of the level of general farming and fishing village development on social capital, regional income raising projects have a positive effect on the formation of social capital such as trust and network. Finally, as a result of analyzing the influence of social capital on subjective well-being, it was found that social capital such as trust and network has a positive effect on the subjective well-being of rural residents. In future research, it is required to select more extended research subjects not limited to residents of limited areas, and conduct repeated studies, with expanding the model to include the important variables that affect the subjective well-being of the residents.
In this study, the value of reservoir landscape improvement among agricultural infrastructures was analyzed using the CVM(contingent valuation method). The results can be summarized as follows. First, in the decision to pay for all types of large, medium and small scales, the probability of acceptance decreased as the price range increased, and the probability of acceptance increased as the interest in landscape increased. Second, the WTP(willingness to pay) to improve landscape derived from logistic estimation was 29,284 won per year for large reservoirs, 20,736 won per year for medium reservoirs, and 16,682 won per year for small reservoirs. Third, conservative estimates using the economically active population to estimate the overall value of the reservoir landscape improvement show that large reservoirs were 955 billion won per year, medium reservoirs were 600 billion won per year, and small reservoirs were 468 billion won per year.
This study had comparatively analyzed the influence factors of the farm village business on the local farmhouses centered on the level of importance and the level of performance. For this, a questionnaire survey had been conducted with 350 local residents who had participated in the Rural Field Forum of 14 villages, including Gyeongsangnam-do, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Chungcheongnam-do, Chungcheongbuk-do, Jeollabuk-do, etc. Excluding the insincere survey questionnaires, the final 232 people had been analyzed. As a result of the analysis of this study, the factors that have the influences on the diverse, rural areas had been compressed into the three factors of the lodging and the program, the special, rural area products, and the transportation and the accessibility. In the level of importance-level of performance analysis, it had been analyzed that the special, rural area products must maintain the continuity, that the transportation accessibility must avoid the excessive endeavor, and that the lodging program had a low priority order. Therefore, it can be said that it is necessary to concentrate the capability of the rural village business in the direction of developing the local specialties in the future. Next, after dividing the level of performance and the level of importance into the two groups each, the multiple group path analysis had been carried out. As a result, in the result of the analysis of the path that has an influence on the economic factor, the path coefficient of the level of importance of the transportation accessibility -> profit increase was 0.195+0.064 and the path coefficient of the level of performance of the transportation accessibility -> profit increase was 0.251+0.074. Therefore, both of them had the statistically significant amounts of the influences. This suggests that the transportation accessibility is an important element of the profit increase of the region. As a result, in the future, the research on the urban and rural exchanges using the even more convenient and inexpensive transportation means is needed. Most of them need the voluntary effort of the residents for being able to creatively develop and sell the native, agricultural, specialty products that are petty. Also, the rural areas need the diversities of the lodging programs and the recreational programs, a convenient reservation system, and the development of a unique tourism experience program. In the future, the researches that had been advanced in the even more detailed domain that is related to these factors are highly expected. Also, the analyses that had been carried out with even more areas and subjects as the targets are needed.
This study was conducted as a basic research to create a sound and vital ecological environment in the city compared to the appearance characteristics of Gap stream(G-stream), which are the main stream of Banseok stream(B-stream), by analyzing the characteristics of waterbirds, including Wild Spot-billed Duck (S-Duck), that live in B-stream built as ecological stream. The waterbird survey was conducted by the line census for 3.2km, Jukdong-bridge to Jamiseon-bridge, from January to August 2018. The analysis of the survey was conducted with Relative species density(RD) of the emerging waterbird species, the Species diversity and Density Per Unit area for 100m2(DPU).
The waterbird survey results of B-stream was conducted 65 times. The five types of water birds that appeared during the survey were Spot-billed Duck(Anas poecilorhyncha), Teal(Anas crecca), Little Egret(Egretta garzetta), Great Egret(Egretta alba), and Grey Heron(Ardea cinerea).
As a result, for S-Duck at B-stream, RD was 89.9%, monthly species diversity was simple as 0.3801 in January, 0.5943 in February and 0.3501 in August. The DPU of the S-Duck was 0.165/100m2 in the B-Stream survey section which was 4.9 times higher than the main stream section, G-stream.
The non-freezing zone of the city’s small stream is expected to play an important role as a winter stop for wild birds such as S-Duck during the freezing period of the huge stream. For this reason, considering the ecological characteristics of wild waterbirds such as S-Duck when creating ecological stream, a: space and linear selection of waterways which can minimize the impact of natural enemy and increasing the number of walkers, b: management water-friendly plants in the low flow channel, c: arrangement walking-bicycle road will be necessary.
Recently, public awareness regarding mountain villages’ landscapes is increasing. Thus, this study aimed to provide standards for conservation, management and creation of mountain village landscape by characterizing and classifying those exist. 286 mountain villages’ data were collected and 19 variables - extracted from GIS spatial information and statistic data of mountain villages, chosen as right sources according to former studies - were utilized to conduct factor and cluster analysis. As a result of the factor analysis, 7 characteristics of the mountain villages’ landscapes were defined - ‘Location’, ‘Cultivation’, ‘Ecology·Nature’, ‘Tourism’, ‘Residence’, ‘Recreation’. The K-means cluster analysis categorized the mountain villages’ landscapes into four types - ‘Residential’, ‘Touristic’, ‘General’, ‘Environmentally protected’. The classification was examined to be appropriate by field assessment, and basic guidelines of mountain village landscape management were set. The results of this study are expected to be utilized planning and implementing regarding mountain village landscape in the future.
The paradigm of rural development projects has shifted and expanded from agricultural production based on the way of improving the residential environments in order to achieve the quality of life staying in rural areas. The purpose of this study is to evaluate policy directions of rural development projects by investigating government projects conducted successively starting from the Participatory Government of President Roh in 2003 and to the present Government of President Moon. In consideration of administrative affairs, the projects include the Balanced National Development Project, Quality of Life Improvement and Regional Development for Rural Villages Projects. The study examined changes in visions and key agendas proposed in national affairs as well as those in the visions and strategies exhibited by local development project plans through various governments. The core contents examined are the project characteristics, transformation process through government changes, and the law of status pertaining to rural development projects. The direction of implementation for the rural development projects implemented by each government provide an opportunity of understanding the transformation process in each project that has been still effective currently. This study is expected to provide a basic set of data to be used for a proposal for new rural development projects while still being useful to be referred or integrated to other national and regional projects.
Study on Economic Valuation of Manufacturing Technology of Platycodon grandiflorum Using Contingent Valuation Method - Focusing on the Virtual Market of Platycodon grandiflorum’s Health Functions Food -

Rural Development Administration (RDA) has developed a manufacturing technology which can increase the amount of platycodin D in Platycodon grandiflorum. A study is needed to estimate the value of this new technology and predict the market demand for a new product. This study estimates additional amount of willingness to pay (WTP) using contingent valuation method (CVM) for a new product with the technology that RDA has developed. The survey was created under virtual health functional foods market of Platycodon grandiflorums. It was conducted with 1,000 adult males and females aged between 19 and 59 years old in 17 major cities and provinces nationwide from December 4 to December 7, 2018. The amount of WTP for the health functional Platycodon grandiflorum was drawn using maxinum likelihood estimation method. The estimated average and median WTP values are 21,933.85 won per person and 10,000 won per person, respectively. The independent factors, including the ratio of monthly average health function food consumption to income, the average monthly income level of a household, and existence of family members or relatives engaged in food and nutrition-related professions in a household, have been shown to have a statistically significant influence on the WTP. This study presents the potential magnitude of health functional food market and the value of the new technology based on health functional food market.
